by posted 09/18/2021

Good morning Capital parents,

Sorry for the lengthy email, but I have tried to include everything in one message.

First, Gordana Nikolic Pahigian (Leo’s mom) is looking for a carpool from Bethesda area. Please contact her directly to her email : or text her at 240 495-1702 if you are interested! We will be putting together a team group chat as well, so it will be easier for parents to communicate with each other.

Next, I want to thank everyone for your quick response to the Florida International Tournament in February. It is great see that many of you are going to participate! The  2008 and younger COED roster is already full. For 2006 and younger BOYS and 2003 and younger BOYS there are only a few spots open. I am going to register our team next week and as soon as I get confirmation from the tournament director, I will send out an email to start purchasing flights . Our club president, Craig Lauinger, is working to secure the same hotel we had two years ago . As soon as he gets confirmation, you will receive a link to book rooms.

Tournament playing dates: Friday, February 18 -Sunday, February 20.

PARENTS AND PLAYERS MUST ARRIVE IN THE TEAM HOTEL BY THURSDAY NIGHT (FEBRUARY 17)!!

OUR FIRST GAME COULD BE ON FRIDAY MORNING AT 7AM.

OUR LAST GAME WILL BE NO LATER THAT 3PM ON SUNDAY. Flights can be booked for Sunday evening to return home.

Also, I am working with Navy to see if we can put a combo girls team for 2003 and younger. I should have more details on this by next Friday. As of now, 5 of our girls will like to go. We were able to have combined girls team in the past and it was a great success.

Next, for the Orlando tournament,  we don’t have enough players in both 12u and 15u. We had short notice for this tournament and we may not be able to make it based on attendance. If we do not have enough players by this coming Wednesday, we will not move forward with the tournament and I will let all our families know.

We are still waiting on more info for the tournament in Tampa, Florida tournament on November 13 and 14. I did speak with tournament director and he told me they are finalizing pools and safety protocol details. As soon as I have more details, I will send email with invitation out.  This is also a great tournament and is always a good experience!

I am also trying to schedule some games in our pool. Next Saturday, we should have Navy 12U and 14U coming to play with us at St. James during our regular practice time. I will confirm this by Monday. I am also working with coaches from North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Richmond to schedule some games, either here and/or at their pools. In the next few weeks, I should have a full schedule for this season, so you can plan ahead. Thank you for your understanding!

Capital parents,
We have been invited to the Florida international tournament from February 18-20 . For our old families you know the deal. For new ones , this tournament is probably the most favorite tournament for many of our families. Teams from other countries, playing water polo in outdoor pools , having a team hotel for all our players and their family members, amazing weather…. We won this tournament a few times with different age groups so it always fun getting some medals.
Cost per player is around $150 which includes coaches expenses and tournament fees.
This DOES NOT include players traveling expenses and hotel.

Please respond on RSVp in the next ten days since we need to register our team quickly. There are limited spots open per team .

Our roster is limited to 14 players per age group. Once we have 14 players going we can not add any additional players to the roster.

More info will be sent out soon.

Thank you,

Coach Miras

Fan Attendance.  As of right now, fans will be allowed to view the water polo events but must be masked indoors, regardless of vaccine status.  As always, everyone should do their best to social distance to remain respectful of others.

As a reminder, there is no vehicle access onto the Naval Academy without a valid Military ID. Therefore, nearly all fans will have to park in town and walk through the Visitors Gate (Gate 1) near downtown Annapolis.  You will need a valid regular government issued ID (e.g. driver’s license, passport, etc.) to get onto base if an adult or an unaccompanied minor and all bags will be subject to search (similar to an airport).

Be aware that anytime fans walk back off base (e.g. to go out in town for lunch, etc.), they will have to show a valid government ID (e.g. driver’s license, passport, etc.) to walk back onto base at Gate 1.

Traffic.   On Saturday, 11, Sept, there is a Home Football game against Air Force with kick-off scheduled for 1530.  Therefore, traffic around the Annapolis area will be higher than normal and all should expect traffic congestion around the stadium and the HWY 50 & Rowe Blvd exit, before and after the game.  Last, the Brigade of Midshipmen “March-over” to the Navy Marine Corps Memorial stadium begins at 1430.   Therefore, from 1430 to 1510, expect traffic delays along Rowe Blvd, Taylor Avenue, and Kings George Street.
