Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Happy New Year Capital families- I hope everyone had a great holiday. Welcome back to the second half of the water polo season. A couple things I want to address as we start the new year:

PLAYER HEALTH:

Considering the current state of our public health situation, I ask that you take extra precautions to keep your kids healthy this winter and spring. One of our biggest goals as a club is to keep practices happening and to continue to attend tournaments. The last thing we want is for The St. James to shut us down due to positive COVID cases. We're all aware there's constantly changing guidance pushed out on a regular basis, so Capital is asking for your help on the following four things:

- If your player doesn't feel 100% healthy, please have them stay home from practice until they feel better - our coaching staff will understand completely, but please let them know.

- If you think your player is feeling sick enough that they need to be tested, then have them stay home from practice until they have received a negative test result. Please let Coach Miras know this is why your player is not at practice.

- If your player receives a positive result from a COVID test, please let Coach Miras know, and keep your player home for the 10-day quarantine period.

- If your player is exposed to someone that is known to be positive for COVID, please keep your player home from practice for 10 days, or until they recieve a negative PCR test, and please let Coach Miras know.

UPCOMING:

ODP Regionals:

A big congratulations to the following 15 Capital athletes that have been selected to represent the Northeast Zone at ODP Regionals this weekend in Greensboro, NC. It reflects incredibly well on our coaching staff to be able to send this many players to this prestigious selection event. The Regionals tournament will be a qualification tournament for the ODP National Championship which will be held this spring in California, so we are hoping several of our players play well enough in NC to advance to that tournament.

TOURNAMENT FEES:

I apologize for having to start the year with this message, but I am reminding each family to please pay tournament fees once you've received a notification email. As many of you know, Capital does not factor tournament fees into our season program fees as it's impossible for us to know in September which tournaments we will attend in that season. This "pay-to-play" system keeps program costs down for kids who don't attend tournaments, or only attend a few tournaments each season. However, it puts the club into a situation where we have to bill players for each event attended. These fees reflect the costs associated with entering the various events throughout the year, and they really add up when families don't settle their accounts when charged. If you have any questions about this, or if you need to have another payment link sent to your account- please let me know and I'll be happy to help you.

Thank you all, and here's to a great second half of the 2021-2022 season!
